Numb (the "b" is silent):
- Deprived of the power of physical sensation.
In many other ways Numb can be redefined to point towards the absence of certain dispositions and emotions we have felt in the past but have lost a sense of due to the presence of unusual, adverse circumstances.
It indicates a void where something once was, a story to tell, a tear to shed.
Oftentimes it is a void we do not want to fill so we do not have to face the possibility of having to deal with the pain of it being taken again.
